As the founder and president of SynAppSys, Ken Rustrum has been in ministry since his college years and is a life-long software developer. Programming is his passion. After working as a Mechanical Engineer, he went into full time ministry with Campus Crusade for Christ (now called CRU). While working at CRU he wrote software to help improve the ministry's operations. This was as a gift to his wife Amy, who was also a CRU staff member at the time. She had a desperate need for technology to help with her ministry work. The software proved so useful that other campuses within CRU adopted it.

Eventually this application caught the attention of the software development department in the CRU central office in Lake Heart, Florida. As a result Ken was invited to join the CRU programming department. However, God led Ken in a different direction with a different vision. This vision was to provide software to ministries without requiring them to staff a software development team in house. As a result, SynAppSys was born.

The company has grown since that time. Now SynAppSys is proud of a team of capable staff members, with more than 30 independent systems developed, and more on the way.
